"Ballin' The Jack" / "Savoy Blues"

SERIAL#: 124
DATE: 1945-02-12

MISC NOTES: This record is related, somehow, to the Exner record company. The tamper codes ("EX")  are one clue. Another is that Dr. Fred Exner had a deep love for the music of Kid Ory and went to great lengths to see that the aging musician was recorded again for posterity. The Ory sessions took place in California, as opposed to some other Exner sessions with Seattle musicians. Perhaps this disc is evidence that Exner first tried world with Mr. Linden -- by bringing him fresh recordings by Ory -- and then later formed his own label to release them himself.
