Misc Notes: Born in Seattle, at age three Signe Toly and her mother moved to Portland, Oregon. Toly attended Lincoln High School and was also named as one of Portland's annual Rose Festival Princesses. She went on to perform as a folksinger who joined with three others forming a quartet, Three Guys and a Gal, who performed at a John F. Kennedy presidential campaign event in November 1959. Later she made her way down to San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood and was recruited to join a group that would surface as the Jefferson Airplane. In 1965 Toly married a scenester named Jerry Anderson, and that same year she sang on the band's debut RCA album, Jefferson Airplane Takes Off, before exiting to raise a family. In later years Anderson performed around the Portland scene with Carl Smith and the Natural Gas Company.
