Misc Notes: Pop group that scored a big radio hit with "Rhythm of the Rain" in 1962-'63 (Valiant Records), then toured up through the west coast and into the NW teen-dance circuit. In 1966 the Cascades' leader, John Gummoe (vocals, keys), exited the band, and was replaced by Spokane-native, Gabe Lapano. Then in 1968 Kent Morrill (of the Wailers) hooked up with the band and began writing songs for them and singing on numerous recordings. It was in 1970 that Gummoe joined together with Lapano and Morrill to form a band called Image, which quickly recast themselves as the country-rock group Kentucky Express.
