Misc Notes: Band formed in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1957 as the Continentals. By 1962 they were in the Army and stationed at Fort Lewis near Tacoma.Memebrs included Bobby Stevens, Charles ("Sonny Charles") Hemphill, Calvin Thomas, and Bill Van Buskirk. They cut their debut 45 for Josie Wilson's Regency label, later recording as Bobby Stevens and the Checkmates, and much later scored a few hits as The Checkmates Ltd.
