Misc Notes: Randy Hansen originally popped up as the guitarists with Kid Chrysler and the Cruisers -- a band that developed a stage act that presented imitations of various big-time rock stars. One of Hansen's roles was to impersonate Jimi Hendrix. In 1977 he branched out by forming Randy Hansen's Machine Gun which included two former bandmates: Larry Epperly (bass) and Tim Kelliher (drums). That band attained a higher public profile by gigging with Heart, the Kinks, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In 1979 Hansen was hired to produced Hendrixian guitar sounds for Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now movie. In 1980 Capitol Records released the Randy Hansen album (ST-12119) and contributed to Herbie Hancock's Monster. Many subsequent tours and albums followed.
