MISC NOTES: The name J. Michael Kearsey may not be familiar to many, but as bassist for Portland's popular Latin rock group Upepo he has been and integral part of the Northwest music scene for the past eight years. Now, in addition to his Upepo duties, J. Michael has his own name stage center with his first record release. Commenting on the project, Kearsey says that as a long time songwriter / guitarist he often performs in local coffee houses and lounges, a solo career he decided to give a boost with a record outing showcasing his songwriting and production talents. As for the recordings, "Berkshire Snow" is described as a mid-tempo country ballad with a high-and-lonesome sound. Lyrically the tune relates to personal feelings of being away from the Berkshire Hills of Massachusettes. "Pick Up Your Heels And Go", continues Mike is a happy uptempo western number penned some eleven years ago. Lyrically it concerns the truism that the only was to follow the path of one's life is to get up and go wherever that path may lead. [NORTHWEST DISC-COVERIES & SOUND REPORT Volume 6 #4 June, 1981]
