Misc Notes: Carl J. Klang III was born in Colton, Oregon, in 1953. He worked as a logger for years prior to forming the Cascade Mountain Boys. After they recorded their Loggin and Lovin' album in 1979, Klang admittedly began writing "politically incorrect" right-wing hyper-patriotic songs. According to the liner notes of a reissue of that album, his dream of making it in the Los Angeles music biz were frustrated: "I pursued a career in songwriting, going to L.A., and the closer I got to any kind of success the more I realized how controlled the music business was ... They liked my melodies but wanted me to change my lyrics and I couldn't really sell my soul, so to speak, and be under their control." Thus began a solo career that in 1992 produced the noted song "17 Little Children" about the deadly government raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Later came his Selah: Songs of Praise To Yesoshua album, which included original religious songs, along with "The Martyr Song," "The Prisoner's Song," and "Heaven's Under Siege." 2020 produced Klang's Extremist Won album with such songs as: "Wheresoever Eagles Gather (The Ballad of Randy Weaver)," "We Want This Country Back," and "Evil, Filthy, Rotten Conspiracy." Extremist Too followed that with songs like "Leave Our Guns Alone," "Federal Reserve Song," and the "OKC Bomb Song."
