Misc Notes: DUSTIN HAYS has written that: "New Folk was heavily inspired by popular folk groups of the time, The Kingston Trio, The Brothers Four and Peter, Paul & Mary. The group of Wenatchee students — Hunt Nickell (guitar & vocals), Jim Farris (guitar & vocals), Wayne Lieb (bass & vocals), Doug Johnston (tambourine & vocals) — had been performing locally since 1965. Originally billed as the New Folk Singers, the combo begin the year performing on the March of Dimes Telerama, filmed in Spokane’s Davenport Hotel and aired live on Channel 4 – KXLY. The group had the 5:50 a.m. slot and performed two songs, “Long Ago, Far Away” (Bob Dylan), and “Bamboo” (Peter, Paul & Mary)." [READ MORE]
