Misc Notes:  Ernest V. Oleachea, 90, a longtime Satsop Resident, died Friday morning, April 23, 2010 at his son’s home in Aberdeen, Washington. He was born on February 7, 1920 in Fields, Oregon to Vedal and Isabelle (Plumeda) Oleachea. He attended school in Crane, Ore., and worked at various ranches in Oregon when he was younger. In 1942, Ernest joined the Army and was stationed in The Pacific Theater as an MP. He was Honorably Discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington, in 1946. On October 4, 1948, Ernest married Nellie Mae Glerup. She died on August 3, 1997. In 1978, they moved to Satsop where he has lived until February when he moved in with his son Bruce in Aberdeen. Ernest worked as a truck driver for Graystone for 20 years in Aberdeen. He was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles Aerie 204, Montesano VFW Post 5926, Aberdeen Elks #593 and the Teamsters. Ernest loved playing the guitar and recording music. He played in the Blue Mountain Boys country band for many years on the harbor and had a #4 on the Northwest song charts with "Honeymoon Trip to Mars". Ernest is survived by two sons and their wives: Bryan and Theresa Oleachea of Montesano and Bruce and Debbie Oleachea of Aberdeen; Brothers Bill of Vader, WA and George of Klamath Falls, OR. Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ernest was preceded in death by brothers: John, Bob, Frank, Jim and Harry and sisters: Rose and Ella. There will be a memorial service for Ernest at 2:00 pm Friday, May 7, 2010, at Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
