"Born John William Rauch in Anacortes, WA, Jack Ross started playing the trumpet in the Anacortes High School Band and played at local dance halls with the Melodians. He graduated from Anacortes High School in 1934, then went on to study music at Western Washington University and later Whitman College. After graduating, he became a Shipboard musician on the President Line, traveling to places like Hong Kong, Singapore, and more. [Read More: ANACORTES MUSEUM]
"Born Nov. 1, 1916, in Anacortes, [Ross] was the son of pioneers Mr. and Mrs. William Rausch. He attended school in Anacortes. He maintained homes both on Guemes Island and in Hawaii. Mr. Ross traveled extensively, performing throughout the country. During his years as an entertainer, he performed for 14 years at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, was a headline attraction in Las Vegas and Reno and performed in many nightclubs in California, Florida, throughout the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Europe and the Orient. Mr. Ross also achieved recognition as a recording star with his popular 'Cinderella' and 'Happy Jose.'" [Read More: Anacortes American December 22, 1982]
