Misc Notes: Born in Everett, Washington, Curtis Salgado is a noted blues singer and harp-player who has performed and recorded with numerous notable bands over the decades. He has fronted the Night Hawks (1975-1976), the Robert Cray Band (1976-1982), In Yo' Face (1985), Roomful of Blues (1984-1986), Curtis Salgado and the Stilettos (1991-1992), and even, briefly, Santana (1995). Salgado also contributed to Mick Clarke's 1988 West Coast Connection album. Back in October 1977, Salgado was gigging at the Eugene Hotel when Saturday Night Live comedian John Belushi stopped in and was mesmerized. Long-story-short, the TV star struck up a conversation with Salgado and from there the two started hanging out together talking blues and enjoying Salgado's record collection. Before long Belushi (along with Dan Ackroyd) launched their Blues Brothers routine on SNL, in the movies -- and with a debut album in 1978 (which included a printed dedication to Salgado on the back-cover). Over the years Salgado has released about a dozen albums, including 2024's Fine By Me. [READ MORE HERE]
