Misc Notes: A Native American hard rock band as led by Nik Alexander (guitar). He lived in Federal Way and the band rehearsed in a North Seattle storage facility. They seem to have first appeared in Seattle at the Broadway Auditorium in November 1980. In April 1981 they headlined the Stompin' Ground bar near Milton Washington. In May-June they were at Seattle's Dez's 400 nightclub, in July at Mr. Bill's, and by October at the Poopdeck in Kent. Winterhawk was committed to a native anti-drug movement, pioneering an abstinence-through-music platform. Winterhawk went on to perform at the 1983 US Festival, and also opened for Santana, Tina Turner, Steve Miller, and Van Halen.
