OWNER(s): Chet Noland & Arthur H "Art" Benson
TIMESPAN: 1954 / 1970s
MISC NOTES: The Celestial label was founded as a commercial enterprise in Seattle at the dawn of the audiophile era, when Chet Noland - the owner of Dimensional Sound recording studio - envisioned marketing original music on pre-recorded reel-to-reel tapes. He recruited Art Benson - manager of the town's Aragon Ballroom - as a talent scout partner. Much later, years after the label had gone dormant, Benson moved to California and, without Noland's knowledge or approval, resurrected Celestial for his own purposes.

Known Label Designs:
1RA.) A - B retail label. Yellow background. Black numerals and lettering. Hi - Fidelity."Music Out Of This World"
2PA.) A - B promo label. Beige/tan background. Moon and stars logo. Black logo, numerals and lettering including Not For Sale. Longhand Celestial.

3RA.) A - B retail label. Blue and white background. No Moon and stars logo. Dark blue numerals and lettering. Longhand Celestial.

NOTE: In the 1970s - and now relocated to Los Angeles - Art Benson began producing and promoting recordings by numerous hopelessly noncommercial artists from California (and perhaps elsewhere).
