MISC NOTES: Maverick was a sister label to Ernie & Hazel Vigars' other labels: Knotty Records (1955-1957) and Embassy Records (1957). Drafting engineer Ernest Powell "Ernie" Vigars (d. 1962) and his pianist wife Hazel cut their own records as "Slide Rule and Blondie." Ernie had been active in the music scene since the 1940s and in late-1950 the couple helped found the Northwest Songwriters Inc. organization-- he served as president and she as secretary. Hazel also played piano on other artists records for their labels. Between 1955 and 1962 they recorded many sessions in their home studio and had the discs pressed in Hollywood by RCA.
