MISC NOTES: After four years of successfully issuing records on the Etiquette label, the owners decided that, perhaps, they had been flooding the market and needed to launch a sister label for a series of new releases.
In the mid-1960s Riverton was an unincorporated community located along U.S. Highway 99 between Tacoma and Seattle. The name was chosen for the label because the area was located near the teen-dance hot-spot, the Spanish Castle Ballroom (Midway, WA).
Throughout Riverton's window of existance, both promo (1PA.) and retail (1RA.) 45 rpm labels featured the same design format: Gold background. Sylized R and RIVERTON centered above spindle hole in white.RIVERTON RECORDS TACOMA, WASH. U.S.A. TMK. REG. arced along botton center in white. All other numerals and lettering - including PROMOTIONAL COPY NOT FOR SALE on promos - in black.
No Riverton albums are known to have been issued.
