MISC NOTES: A-side song was a tribute to Buddy "The Playboy" Rose, a pro-wrestling champ who worked out of Portland and lived in Vancouver, Washington. It was likely inspired by the 1971 recordings made by fellow wrestler, Beauregarde, with a musical assist by Greg Sage (guitarist with Snub Nub), and Dave Koupal (bassist with the Phantoms), who went on to form the Wipers.
Paul Perschmann (1952-2009) was professional wrestler who'd been active in various NWA territories, starting with Texas and then Hawaii. But it was later in 1976 that Perschmann made his way to NWA-affiliated Pacific Northwest Wrestling, which was based in Portland, Oregon. There, Perschmann adopted the name "Playboy" Buddy Rose and developed his definitive persona as a cocky heel. In October 1979 Rose defeated former WWE Champion Stan Stasiak and captured the NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship for the first time. He recorded a single with the backing of the Portland punk rock band, Cleavers. Rose wrestled in the indies until the late 1990s, eventually wrestling his final match in 2005. At one point, Rose opened up a wrestling school in Portland with his frequent tag team partner Ed Wiskowski, better known to fans as Col. DeBeers, the South African military heel with a gigantic mustache. He died at home in Vancouver, Washington, on April 28, 2009.
