"Cowboys Want To Be Truck Drivers" / "Truck Drivers Know How A Lonely Heart Feels"

SERIAL#: 45-180
DATE: 1979-09

MISC NOTES: Ontario, Oregon's George Gordon has been driving the big trucks for Pacific Intermountain Express freight company for twenty-seven years. Those years taught him a lot about the trucking industry and its people. A few years back the prompting of friends led to his sharing his experiences through the medium of music. A couple single releases ultimately culminated in an album Go Truckin'...With The Happy Hobo (Ripcord SLP-1032) but he didn't stop there. Enthusiastic response to the project led to a second package Just A Gypsy Trucker (Ripcord SLP-1048). Now, from that second album comes a single with (two slightly re-titled tracks):  "Cowboys Want To Be Truck Drivers," a humorous recitation about the "hat and boots" western style of dress adopted by many of today's drivers, and  "Truck Drivers Know How A Lonely Heart Feels". As for the latter, George says it is a waltz with lyrical content based on his years as a driver. [NORTHWEST DISC-COVERIES & SOUND REPORT Volume 4 #9 November 1979.]
