MISC NOTES:
Novelty song by THE GAS COMPANY
According to guitarist/vocalist Ned Nelter, Paul Bernsen, the owner of Moses Lake's Debutone record label - named for his daughter Debby - wanted a political novelty song pertaining to the 1968 U.S. presidential election in which Hubert Humphrey (D) was running against Richard Nixon (R). As as result Neltner's group, The Gas Company, came up with this tune referring to Mr. Humphrey.
