Gregg Arrrell's message to producer John Florez via Facebook: "My name is Gregg Arrell and the Mid Day Rain was my band back in 1970. I was 20 years old when my manager and I walked into your office at RCA and asked you to listen to my demo. After hearing 20 or 30 different A&R guys tell me they weren't interested, you said 'I can guarantee you a single'. I think I tried to act nonchalant but the pee running down my leg was probably a bit of a giveaway. You said you were going to get studio guys to record the music and I would fly down in a few weeks to do the vocals. I lived in Portland Oregon and had to get back there to play at a high school dance that week end. I actually flew down to listen to the musicians lay down the basic tracks. They were fantastic. I had no idea who they were at the time and I still don't but ... there was a female bass player (Carol Kaye???) ...After I finished ...I went back to Portland and waited and after about 5 weeks started NONCHALANTLY going around to record stores to see if they had a record by the Mid Day Rain and no had heard of it. I waited a couple more weeks and finally got up the nerve to call RCA to see what was going on. When I asked to speak to John Florez, I was told that Mr. Florez no longer worked for RCA records! ... And that was the end of the Mid Day Rain...I actually got another deal, 10 years later in 1980 with MCA Records. They released a self-titled album Gregg Arrell that actually WAS released but it BOMBED and that was pretty much the end of my musical career. All of that stuff seems like another lifetime ago."
