"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" / "Hey, Mrs. Jones"

SERIAL#: 45-734
DATE: 1962-07-01

MISC NOTES: "Hey Mrs. Jones" appears to have been first issued as a recording via the 1951/'52 release of the song  by Jimmy Forrest and Orchestra (United #1107) in 78 rpm and 45 rpm formats.  It next surfaced as a 45 in 1961:  "Hey Mrs. Jones Pt. 1" /  "Hey Mrs. Jones Pt. 2"  by The Check Mates (Arvee  #A 5030). This Tiny Tony, Merrilee, and the Statics arrangement features Smith carrying on a patter/rap conversation with "Mrs. Jones" (Statics' keyboardist Merrilee Gunst). In 1962 there was a pressing made by a plant other than Monarch in Los Angeles -- then, in 1963, Monarch began pressing the discs.
