"In the spring of '63 (Jerry) Dennon took Lewis's trio into Audio Recording. At the time.......(Seattle's ) KJR (radio) was hyping their air staff as the "Good Guys"; in an effort to win the station's support, Dennon got A & M to release one of the Trio's new instrumental tunes with the title "The Good Guys Theme." That scheme, however apparently failed to excite KJR: after only a few days, the single was withdrawn from the market."

"In the meantime one KJR Good Guy DJ, Lan Roberts - who had  a gift for coining inane buzzwords - had improvised some on-air tomfoolery about how any listener who sent him a postard would receive a "a little green thing with a duck on it" by return mail. Lo and behold, within days KJR was reportedly swamped with three thousand letters. Now Roberts had to make good on his promise. He promptly bought a bolt of green cloth, cut it into randomly shaped pieces, stamped them with the inked image of a duck, and mailed them out."

(With all this going on) Dennon had A & M quickly rerelease "The Good Guys Theme" single under a new title: "Little Green Thing" ......Roberts responded by inviting the Dave Lewis Trio........onto his show where he debuted the record and even presented the musicians with their very own duck-stamped momento."
