"Walk - Don't Run" / "The McCoy"

MISC NOTES: This disc was the second Dolton issuance of "Walk - Don't Run."  The B-Side was changed to a band-written song, probably to save paying royalties to Johnny Smith the composer of the original B-Side song, "Home." Smith was already getting royalty payments from "Walk - Don't Run." In later years he would say something to the effect that  The Ventures' recording set him up financially for life!!

"The McCoy" was an up tempo reworking of  the instrumental track from The Ventures'; initial 1959 45 rpm disc which featured "The Real McCoy" b/w "Cookies And Coke" (Blue Horizon #100). "The Real McCoy" had been a novelty take-off on the then-popular television show The Real McCoys starring Walter Brennan. On the original Blue Horizon recording rhythm guitarist Don Wilson did voice impersonations of Brennan.
