Misc Notes: Naomi Wheat made her debut at age six on the Captain Dobbsy's show on KJR radio. Then, as a 12-year old, she sang with the Walter Haines Orchestra at the Trianon Ballroom in 1934. But at age 14, and gigging at the Esquire Club with Jules Radinsky's Orchestra, she ran afoul of the law. Juvenile Court Judge William Long forced her to desist, cited the law which forbade minors from performing in venues where liquor was served. Three years later, she dropped out of Garfield High School, having been contacted by Hollywood-based talent scouts. Wheat headed off to Los Angeles where she successfully auditioned with Rudolph Frimi Jr's band at the Biltmore Bowl. Then she adopted the stage-name of "Carol King," and began working as a radio singer on KFWB, before returning to Seattle where, as she began singing at the China Pheasant with the Bob Harvey Orchestra. She married Walter Foots in 1942, and launched a 12-year run with the Frank Sugia Trio. From there she began making TV appearances on the Peoples Parade TV show. She retired from showbiz in 1958.
