Misc Notes: Born in 1927, Don Korsmo's father Perdin Korsmo was a local radio singer who also often sang with popular bands led by Vic Meyers, Jules Buffano, Harry Reed, and Henry Damski. His mother, Lenora, was a local music teacher and his brother Larry was a church organist who also worked for Balcom & Vaughan Organ & Piano Sales. Korsmo attended Ballard High School where he was a member of the Boy's Senior Glee Club. In 1966 he told The Seattle Times: "I was strictly a bathtub singer, more interested in sculpture" -- until about 1962. "It was about the time of the Seattle World's Fair -- Paul Bane encouraged and tutored me, even helped arrange an audition with Jerry Whitely, producer of the program, World's Fair Holiday, on television here. I started singing with Frank Sugia's group at the Italian Village, where I got my first pleasant taste of audience reaction. I didn't get paid, the applause was reward enough. Then I sang with Gene Boscacci at the Cellar Pigalle on Show Street at the fairgrounds. later on with Boscacci, I made my first and only album, a 1965 issue titled Sweet Dreams, Sweetheart ... Ed Clifford and I recently made a single, "Sentimental Journey" / "Little Man You've Had a Busy Day. The record was released last week..."
